Health Reform Popular in Poll

Polls done by the Kaiser Family Foundation each month track public opinion regarding health care and health insurance. Results from these can be eye opening, and provide an opportunity to observe where the public stands on these issues.

As reported by Medical News Today, the results from the April poll are: 36% didn’t go to dentist or doctor check ups because of the cost increases, 71% want taxes raised for high income Americans in order to pay for health care reform, 59% expressed that health care reform has become more necessary now, 26% had an individual in their home who had a hard time paying medical bills this past year, and 67% strongly or somewhat favor a nationalized health insurance plan to create competition for the private plans.

Public opinion is becoming more obvious now as in regards to the actions being taken regarding health care and health insurance reform. In addition, many more are feeling the weight of the rising costs in health care.

The lawmakers who are ready to send the health care reform through the process are very happy with these results. As the Kaiser poll indicates, there will be support from the majority, and with this support will be ability for them to push the sweeping reform through the process.

Of course, this is not a done deal due to this poll. It’s a glimpse of how the public feels right now, but opinion is always subject to change quickly, as the economic issues change day to day. Also there is the issue of the Democrats and the Republicans trying to agree on how the reform will work.

What does the future hold for our healthcare system?

Healthcare Reform is on the forefront of our news and congressional issues. Many people understand changes are needed. However agreeing on what those changes should be is another story all together. Since healthcare is essential to us it is a very important issue.

Many people are lobbying for a ntional health insurance plan for American’s like you see in Japan and Britain. Too many oppose this option, saying it is not the answer. Everyone must come together and develope a plan that will save our healthcare system and benefit everyone.

More money is spent by American’s on health care then most other countries. You would think that all this money spent would mean we are healthier. But that is not the fact. Healthcare is way to expensive and many American’s can not even afford coverage.

If our health system was working then our mortality rates would tell a different story. American’s have some of the lowest mortality rates. Health insurance premiums are so expensive that we just can not afford health insurance, leaving many uninsured.

Some American’s can only afford a major medical policy if anything at all. All though a major medical plan keeps you out of major debt you still have a lot of out of pocket expenses which makes finances tight. As many as 1/50 American’s go uninsured due to the cost.

A national health insurance has been considered. But too many people oppose. They believe there is a need for change, but do not agree that this is the answer. Until we can come up with a good solution that we can agree on for the most part it should not happen.

Many medical professionals think that a national insurance will change the doctor/patient relationship, making it suffer. Others believes this is not the fact and once we change the cost of medical expenses it will all even out.

For now instead of facing financial doom we must buy as much coverage as we can afford. Health insurance is necessary to our well being, therfore we must find a option that will suit our budget. Whether is be a major medical or full benefit plan we must have a safety net in place.
